Knock knock – Boot missing
At Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic we have a large customer base with many different vehicles. This bottom arm is from a Honda CRV. The vehicle was bought into us as there was a knock from the nearside, and the vehicle was wandering when driving.
We traced it to this bottom ball joint and the two bushes in the arm. There should have been a dust cover over the ball joint, which would have stopped the ingress of dirt. This may have prevented the failure of the arm. I suspect that the moving ball joint put strain on the bushes.
Interestingly these rubber boots are now part of the annual MOT test.
Remember… A badly maintained vehicle is a breakdown waiting to happen!
