Chuffing sound on your diesel? Get it sorted

Modern motor cars are really good – until they go wrong and you realise just how much you rely on them.

When cars do break down, rushing the job is the wrong thing to do. At Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic, we have a courtesy car (the customer has to pay insurance) which alleviates the inconvenience of not having a car for a day or two.

If you own a diesel and hear a “chuffing” sound, our advice is take it to a garage as early as possible as the noise is caused by diesel passing the injector nozzle and heading upwards. This, if ignored, turns into a treacle like substance which prevents the injector from being removed.

If this treacle effect gets really serious, the vehicle may turn out to be beyond economical repair. I have recently written a blog about a Mercedes Vito with that very same problem.

In this instance, by using a chemical to assist the process and special tools we managed to remove the injector and replace the seal.

Remember a poorly maintained vehicle is a breakdown waiting to happen. Come to the experts at Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic.
