These brake pipes are on an 06 plate Ford Mondeo presented for an MOT test.
Quite rightly, the vehicle failed as the brake pipes were excessively corroded. In fact, the corrosion was that excessive they were “ballooning”.
The car also failed for other issues relating to the suspension but the repairing mechanic’s solution had been to take it away and cover the offending pipes with copper grease. Appalling!
These pipes could “burst” at any time, the brake pedal would fall to the floor and the driver would only have the hand brake to stop the vehicle! Not surprisingly, that had also been bodged.
Unfortunately for Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic, we could not fail the car for the brake pipes as we now could not see the rust.
However, we could – and did – refuse to test the vehicle.
Remember a poorly maintained vehicle is a breakdown waiting to happen. Don’t take a chance – come to the experts at Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic.
