Fuel tank holds key to cutting out problem

“My car keeps cutting out – can you help?” was the question posed to Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic by a new customer.

We advised the customer not to drive the car as this could be a dangerous condition but he said he’d been driving it like this for a while.

When the car, a Kia arrived, the first thing we did was to plug the diagnostic computer in. The computer detected a multitude of fuel related faults, which we erased.

More to the point on an initial start-up after the codes were erased, they did not immediately reappear so we advised the customer to let us check the tank.

Surprise, surprise – the tank had contaminates in it and the in line filter was blocked.

The customer wasn’t altogether convinced by the course of action we took but he paid the invoice and drove the vehicle away.

The good news is it looks like we did win him over in the end as he called last week to book the car in for a service.
