Mice make a meal of it
WMM are an AA approved garage, and have a really good working relationship with them.
The AA patrol vans are mostly Ford Transits and the patrolman who drove this van had parked it outside his house for four days while he was taking a short break.
When he was back at work, warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard. Having the technical capability and a diagnostic computer, he plugged it in.
The faults recorded pointed to exhaust sensors. He had a look underneath and saw the damage caused by mice.
He spoke to his colleagues and was told it will need to go to the manufacturer Ford and that the repairs would cost between £3,000 and £5,000.
As the patrolman knows WMM well, he called in to the workshop and we had a quick look. We suggested that at worse the AA would lose however long it took to professionally repair the wiring.
If it failed for any reason, the sensors and labour to fit was still a huge saving.
WMM priced all the parts and once repaired all the lights went out. The repaired wiring now has a mice resistant protective cover, which should keep the little rascals at bay!
