Tyres and tarmac

When WMM director David Connellan is in the recovery truck with staff members he always tells them: “T & T - tyres and tarmac.” If you can see both and the car in front breaks down you can easily drive around them.

David was driving home recently when a professional driver zoomed in front for him from a side road on Fort Royal Hill in Worcester and he was forced to brake.

This driver then forced his way through the traffic and at the top of the hill, where he should have given way to the traffic coming uphill, he carried on driving aggressively. David hung back as, in his experience, trying to force your way through may save you a minute or may kill you.

Instead of stopping, this professional driver decided to mount the kerb which forced oncoming traffic to pull over. The problem was this kerb turns into a low wall, in a very short time the driver had to stop at an acute angle.

As David had left tyres, tarmac and a huge gap, he flashed the vehicles that had priority and waited a minute for them to pass before calmly driving round the oddly parked car.
