Convertor crisis

Many of our customers are aware that Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic are imported vehicle experts.

Mazda Bongo, Toyota Alphard, Toyota Regius and Nissan Elgrand are just a few of the models that our technicians look after on a regular basis.

Recently we had a call from a customer with a Mazda Bongo V6. The vehicle was having running issues and he had taken it to a respected garage in the Swindon area as he lived there at the time.

The garage diagnosed a distributor fault but after speaking to the owner on the phone we thought it might be a problem with a catalytic convertor instead.

The Bongo was recovered to Worcester and the first thing we did was use our diagnostic computer to check for faults. There was one - oxygen sensor out of range.

We then removed the rear exhaust pipe which allowed us to have a look at the catalytic convertor.

The sad reality was that the customer had paid approximately £600 for a misdiagnosis and due to the catalytic convertor breaking up, it blocked the rear silencer as well.

Once the repairs were completed the van was running as it should.

Remember a poorly maintained vehicle is a breakdown waiting to happen. Don’t take a chance - come to the experts at Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic.
