Diesel dilemma

Many diesels have not been driven as they should be, especially through the pandemic.

When the diesel particulate filter (DPF) warning light illuminates and the car goes into limp mode, it needs some attention.

Sometimes, the vehicle can have the system “regenerated” in the garage but some vehicles will need driving to accomplish the desired results.

However, some garages are not insured and/or willing to send two people on a drive down the motorway with all the risks involved.

This Audi would not pass its MOT. The warning light was illuminated, and it failed on the emissions test. To remedy the situation, it needed a treatment and a drive down the M5.

The temperature the exhaust can - and does - reach is amazing. The temperature reached 700 degrees before the process was completed, and we drove to and back from Strensham services.

Fortunately, the end result was the DPF was saved, and the customer avoided having to pay out for an expensive component.
